Next to the church was a cemetery. And beside it, on one side of the square, stood the friars' rooms, offices, living and guest quarters, and a monjerio. Workshops, barns, stables, and warehouses formed the other sides of the square. All the members of the mission community would meet in the center of the square where a fountain stood. It was there that they celebrated festivals, played games, sang songs, and danced.
A brick building, used for bathing and washing, stood in front of the mission. On one side were the gardens and orchards, and on the other were the huts and tiled houses where the neophyte families lived.
